the Snakes have Awakened

I went to go to the outhouse and noticed the snakes are out.
I will need to be aware, the snakes are aggressive when they first come out in Spring. And for some reason, I attract them.

This is a nonpoisonous python but we do have quite a few varieties of deadly poisonous snakes that live on the land as well. Though you won't get me standing this close if I see them first.

On our outhouse on the Reserve (Native Reserve) in northern ontario we get these really big wolf-spiders that have bodies the size of beer bottle cap and legs that would stretch out across the palm of your hand. I usually go in there with a broom and a big can of bug spray. My nice environmental sense goes out the window when a spider come between me and the need to pee. But the snake thing....creepy.

I once got stuck in an outhouse when I was little by a snapping turtle mama who was looking for a place to lay eggs in the sandy ground. I had to wait till she left. She was real angry that I disturbed her. I ran by her as she was leaving.

We have huntsman spiders that look like that. They are the ones I don't mind because they eat cockroaches and aren't deadly. I let a few of them live in the house until they are as big as the palm of my hand, then they have to go and live outside.

Joann, I am so close to the snake cause I am hoping to impress you! lol

WoW! I would totally freak if I saw a snake that size at my house! Then I would try to get as close I as thought I could to get a better look. lol. I don't know the difference between the snakes so it wouldn't be all that close. How lucky you are to be able to see that each summer.

I couldn't take that! I'm not a snake person - a long time ago I stepped on a non-poisonous one while I had bare feet. It freaked me out...I'm not frightened of them in controlled settings (like if someone has a pet) but I would not like to find one "loose"...
