Unfinished Pages

One thing I love about the art journal is that I don't feel like I have to finish one page before I go onto another. In fact, I never do that. I jump around, finishing a page, starting 3 or 5 more. Going back and forth. Gessoing over pages I don't like and continuing on pages that I might have considered finished.
This is a page I have come back to (click here to see the original post). I had another figure started on the left side but lost interest. So I gessoed over the top of it and coloured it with the watercolour crayons. Then I glued on strips from a magazine. I don't think these pages are finished but I have kind of lost interest. They might never go further.

I like the way that the vertical lines on the left play to the horizontal stripes on her tights. I feel like there is a little song or dance. The colors feel very nice to me too.

I love how the magazine pages turned out. It just looks like it belongs there. I also like the woman you drew.

thanks for your hints, I will be back often to see what you are up to and to enjoy your journal. Sharing this work is so powerful!

Thanks for sharing. I like what you say about letting a page undone and then coming back to it later ~ that encourages me because this is what has been my major creativity block: «being determined to finish what I started but in the long run getting bored with it and just leaving it». It`s good I guess, to let it simmer for a while and then come back to it later :0)

Awesome! And yeah - I jump from page to page and back again ... I *love* that about art journaling, in contrast to word journaling, which I also do - it's very linear.

I like this page. I think the background is great with the red color in front. It is something about this picture that talks to me, but i am not sure what. I just love it.

thanks for the comments.
I hadn't seen that about the stripes cookie. Maybe I could play on it some more because I don't feel these pages are finished.
Carlikup, I know where you are coming from - I have the same inclination, it is like an parent voice in my head telling me to finish one thing before going onto another. It has it's place but can be a real killjoy.

Especially like the red along with the black and while in the girl's clothing.

Are those tea cups on her head!

Your descriptions about how these pieces have reached the state shown are really an education. I am so fond of this page - the girls striped stockings and the dark pattern on her dress along with the red. Especially those red vertical lines. I like the ghostly look of the trees in the background. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who bounces around and re-works journal pages...it's about our journey, right? So sometimes I backtrack...
