Help Needed with Video Posting

I made a short "hello" video for you guys in iMovie. I uploaded it to Youtube (it took hours to upload!). But apparently youtube couldn't convert the video. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My Creativity Class starts tomorrow. I am very excited.

I don't know iMovie but google is a friend of mine, someone said:

"go to Share on the top menu bar and select QuickTime. You get a choice of what to compress for, and it will convert it for you in a few minutes. Mine ended up a .mov file and hey presto it's on YouTube."

= it needs ot be a .mov file to be uploaded plus you need to make it a size that youtube can handle, check their preferences! if it's to large, make it into pieces yourself or youtube will do that for you (divide it)

good luck!

The size is probably to big. If you put more then one song in it that might be why. Try to keep your videos under ten minutes if you put music in the video. Youtube usually tells you how much space they allow. You need to check the size of your file. Call if up in whatever file you saved it under or if it is on your desktop call up the inventory for you desktop off of the Macintosh HD icon and click on your file to see the info on it. Check the size of your file. If it exceeds the youtube limit you will have to cut it down or divide it in half and post to videos. Here is my email if you need more help: renee.bedard@gmail.com

Thanks you guys. I don't think the file was too big, it was only about a minute and I checked the size. I will try what ihanna's suggestions over the weekend.
I am off to my first class now!:)

I had this issue too. In iMovie, you gotta choose "Export" and it'll give you options -- if you choose web it will convert to a smaller file size and turn it into a .mov. From there it should upload to YouTube without issue. :)

When you saved it. After that did you export it? You need to go to FILE, Export, I chose the CD-ROM option, hit share and wait. Then load the exported file up to youtube. I works every time for me if it is within the size limit.

and the best of luck to ya chickie with your class... (Ps)i hope you don't mind, but in my eulogy speech yesterday (For my Pa) i began with... " We are each of us pieces of those who came before us, We carry the bloodlines of our ancestors..." It was a~beautiful~ way to begin when i had no idea how to start... so now you are a part of my history, part of my journey too xox

I didn't export it! There you go. Thanks soularchitect and Renee.

Vicki, I am honoured, thrilled... I don't know if I wrote that about the bloodlines or it is a quote. I think it might be something I heard. I hope I am still part of your history...
