Longing Journal Page

Here are some pages that are all ink drawing. I think I will do more of these. I love drawing.
I was initially inspired by someone else's drawing but my drawing soon veered off in its own direction. The dress I got from a magazine. The birdie arrived on his own. She felt like she was standing next to a bench.
Oh, it's a bus stop. And there is a tree behind the bench with a building behind that. Her bag is open behind her with a large rat peeking out. I am pretty sure he is her pet. I think he is used to riding in there.
A bit more development in the drawing. She is wearing dark tights now and the alley behind her is in shadow.
If you want to see her closer, just click on the picture.
The writing is just what was coming up at the time. It wasn't until after the pages were complete that I realised why she is sad.

Longing makes me sad. Does it you?

I love this illustration! everything about it is beautiful, and so is the writing. It would make an interesting discussion topic.

Zom, this is so good. You've just got to sketch more. Her sadness is so deep, but then the little rat made me smile. He's her friend, probably her only friend right them. Sad? Today is my day for panic attacks, tears, raw feelings, more tears. Tomorrow I'll be funny... ~PJ

It never stops, no matter how old or settled we become. Every story is different but the feeling seems the same.

you're such a good drawer, zom... i love this.

(i started to answer you question about longing but i was rambling too much, and i don't think i was really saying anything anyway. : )

I love the quality of your illustration - it's complex simplicity! Even without the words, I feel the longing and sorrow...

I am so glad you guys like this. I like it too.

Lynne, I wished you had left your ramble, I would have loved it.

And I just want to tell you guys, the writing wasn't to go with the drawing, or the drawing with the writing. I didn't know what I would write. I just find that so weird.

And I didn't even realise that she was endlessly waiting until luthien pointed it out.
It is so valuable to get all of your feedback. Do you know how you help me to see my own drawing?

This is so amazingly moving, heart rendering and cute, too. I absolutely love it. And yes, longing does make me sad.

Seriously, I think I have just hit on my favourite page.

I read the longing too. I hear it from all the way over here. I feel it too.

This is super awesome. What a beautiful girl and what a beautiful little rat.

Incredible work.

Love Renee

I just love this drawing. Such a face! The tree is cool too. I have yet to be able to get into the art journaling thing myself but am really inspired by seeing what you are doing with yours.

Your drawings give me an inner reaction that usually I do not get from a cartoon type illustration. I hope you do not mind me calling it a cartoon style. You have a definite direction going for you my friend!
