Drawing

I think she is finished.
It would be really helpful if you would tell me what you see when you look at this drawing. There is no 'right' answer.

Hi Zom - well I see a challenge in her gaze, as if she is questioning, me and my curiosity. I am obviously not the first person to stop and look and I think perhaps she's a little fed up with it. she reminds me of myself when I was about 17, and many others of the same age - we wore attention grabbing clothes, but were silently hostile to anyone who stared. I see vulnerability too, because she is naked and young.

And I see lovely lines too :-)

At first I saw mischief... and then as I looked closer I see some hurt, maybe some pain. I feel like she has something to say, but maybe she thinks no one will listen?

Beautiful piece. She also looks to be a faerie!

Hi Zom,

Just discovered your blog recently and enjoy your art.

Here is the immediate thought I had of the drawing:

"A female spirit from the forest who warns us not to follow."

(It also reminds me of James Jean's painting.)

Cheers and have a wonderful day! :)

I have hurried past everyone elses comments so my view isn't tainted by what each of the other commenters have said. Anyway, when I look at her I see a young woman who is almost elfin. She has an other-worldly look to her, too, and her ruffled lettuce like hair(?) adds to that look.

No matter what you intended for her to look like or the feeling you intended to evoke from your viewers, she is beautiful.

Peace & Love,
~Barb~

Zom, It is the eyes that caught me instantly. A cautious look back, to see if someone is following or perhaps in modesty. She looks like she is fairy or mermaid, something of the forest or sea. But most importantly, she is the start of something good!!!

Thank you thank you. I am so grateful for your comments. It is a tremendous help to me. I won't say more at this time as I don't want to effect anyone else's viewpoint.

i see a sci-f character in a movie or book. she lives in the woods where her hair is easily camouflaged in leaves or trees. her human like body can change colors & develop the texture of a tree trunk. her eyes can be green or brown & she's on a mission to save her forest.

The first thing that strikes me is the pensive expression. Kinda like she's waiting for something/someone.
I love the way she's looking out, yet not directly at me. And the "hair" is awesome!

a mermaid waiting for something, the hair looks kinda seaweed like to me

She is wonderful.
For me her expression is intense, serious. And I clicked to see it in a larger size, her hair looks as though it is seaweed. So she seems to be a creature from an underwater world.

Here hair is lichen - her gaze, arresting; she is moving away from the viewer, not inviting followers. Beautiful drawing, Zom.

I didnt want to read anyone elses first either..just skimmed. i first saw her eyes..her challenge, i saw myself..i felt like i was accidently glimpsing something wild and free, that couldnt be tamed..that had been hurt yet the hurt made her stronger...she is precious and flighty..she is essense of woman.

I think it would be the same look that Artemis gave to Actaeon before she turned him into a stag. There is some regret in there that she is being seen and therefore...
