I did another one of my 'what I wore today' drawings, but this time I drew my creative blog-friend Rice in one of her fabulous outfits. I didn't really feel like the watercolours that I have been using did her outfit justice.
So I decided to give my new art markers a try. This is my first time so I didn't know what I was doing. I think I will try a few more. Hopefully I will improve.Which version do you prefer?

the art markers certainly give a vibrant sharper finish, pretty darn good for a first try with a new medium
I like the art marker. It pops more. When I first saw the drawing I said to myself, "self, that looks like Rice". Wow, that's pretty good!
I think you did a splendid job with them--look at the tie-dye! And the shading on my jeans! What more could you want from them? (What kind are they, anyway? Something fancy, or just markers? Is that two shades of blue, or did you Do Something to get that?)
Good job!
I like the hand-sketched details of the first, but the colors of those markers are amazing. Wow. I think that I want some. Or, I should at least get some for my adult daughter.
Gorgeous! I am very inspired.
I like the markers especially the way you shaded the blue on the jeans. I think her hair needs to be bright orange though :).
These days it is very much about how things look in print and on the computer. That was part of the reason I was interested in trying the markers. Watercolours are perhaps a bit subtle ( I have to admit I like subtle.)
I used Blick Studio Art Markers. If I got into them I wouldn't mind trying the copic markers for their brush tip.
Rice I have started another drawing. Hopefully it will be better and I will be able to show you what more I want. The shading on the jeans is another swipe with the same colour.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Hi, Zom - Yup, the second rendition is my favorite. You know me, the brighter the better! xxoo, sus
oooh- both for different reasons!
What reasons Violet? I would love to know.
lovely pieces, both. But the colours do pop in the marker one. what fun! I love her outfit and it does capture her spirit I think.
The watercolors look more true to life-the markers look more fun and how I would want my outfit to look like in rel life.
I have to say i like the first one better. I think you really got her hair perfect on the first one but missed the mark on the second. I like the brightness of the markers but the detail on the first. Great job! They really look like her!
I like the bright colours with the markers, but there is a lack of subtlety - which is what I think jinxygirl is picking up on. It is probably my lack of experience with them. I am not going to blame my tools, haha.
