Sometimes I Really don't know What I am Doing

And that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Can even be a good thing - but it often doesn't feel good.
You have already seen the very beginning of this... is it a drawing or a painting? not sure.

It is an experiment where I am trying out coloured pencil on wood, and it had a promising start. The second stage looked okay too.

But then I decided to put some molding paste over the top, forgetting that molding paste isn't completely transparent.

She looks like she is underwater, or behind a fog. All the clear drawing is faded.

I wanted a darker background, some texture. I also went in and redrew most of her, and some of the bees.

Is this an improvement? I wanted it less sweet, I think that is happening.

A mysterious shape appeared in the background. Vaguely threatening (I hope.)


I think I will leave it a while.

A Cheeky Goanna who has been Hanging about

This cheeky little goanna has been hanging around lately, climbing on the water heater and climbing into the shed. I wonder if he (she?) is related to the big one who hangs out at the other end of the property on our neighbour's verandah.

An Experiment in Progress, Coloured Pencil on wood

Lately I have been drawing on wood and I love it. I have been doing some paintings with pen and acrylic (I wanted to finish one before I show you, soon...)

Then a few days ago I saw where someone had used coloured pencil on wood, and I thought I would try that. I was under the impression that you had to use oil pencils rather than regular wax coloured pencils, so I bought a Pablo pencil at my local art store. But it turned out that my regular Prismacolors and my Derwent Drawing pencils worked as well.

The light washes are acrylic paint. She is far from finished, I just wanted to share the beginning with you .

I am one of the teachers in the 21 Secrets Art Journaling Online Workshop, a fantastic workshop where you can take 21 different classes from 21 teachers all for $59.

This video isn't a preview or a promo, instead it is a short video of some of the many mistakes I have been making while putting together my videos for the Workshop. My class is called Alternative Lives and it is about the opportunity to explore living other lives in our art journals.

Lost in Learning to Make Videos

I haven't been posting because I am lost in the land of learning to make videos. I am getting together my video for the class 'Alternate Lives' in the 21 Secrets workshop.

It is fun, it is frustrating. I can't help but think it would have been easier 10 years ago when I was younger and better looking. (But they didn't have iMovie then, did they?)

I will try and put up some offcuts, or a teaser or something. Thanks for staying with me.
